Last September, pianist Marco Benevento held a pair of solo performances at the Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art (MASS MoCA) in North Adams, MA. Thankfully, for those who couldn’t attend the limited admission outdoor shows, select songs from Benevento’s September 12th performance were recorded by his longtime archivist, Clinton “Cleantone” Vadnais, and have now been released as a live album via Bandcamp.
The new Live At MassMoca compilation was released this past Friday (2/5) and features Marco’s solo renditions of songs from his 2019 Let It Slide album, including “Let It Slide” and “Send It on a Rocket”, along with a number of tunes from the pianist’s solo catalog including “Greenpoint”, and “The Real Morning Party”. Also included on the album are Marco’s cover performances of Dr. John‘s “Such A Night” and James Waynes‘ “Junco Partner”.
