Marco Benevento rocked his way into the Boston area to start the weekend with a performance at The Sinclair in Cambridge, MA on Friday. The concert was the latest on a fall run of shows from Benevento and his band as the pianist continues a busy tour schedule behind the September release of his latest studio album, Let It Slide.
Benevento–who’s live band also included bassist Karina Rykman and drummer Dave Butler–mixed in plenty of his new material into the show’s 16-song setlist, including “Say It’s All the Same”, “Let it Slide”, “Solid Gold”, “Humanz”, and “You Got Away”. The Benevento trio also threw covers of The Knife‘s “Heartbeat” and Marc Ribot‘s “Aqui Como Alla” into the mix, in addition to their take on INXS‘ “Need You Tonight” to close the show’s two-song encore.
Benevento’s fall tour continues on Sunday with a celebratory album release show at Gateway City Arts in Holyoke, MA. Head to the pianist’s website for tickets and tour info.
