The six-string phenom and talented vocalist played three songs from his recently released debut solo album, El Dorado. He started things off with “Beautiful Stranger”, which King mentioned “is really kind of a good drinking song and…a good love song,” during an acoustic performance with The Black Keys‘ frontman and El Dorado producer, Dan Auerbach.

Next, King performed “One Day She’s Here” for the 88.5 FM audience. Donning his Fender Resonator guitar, Marcus started with the lead riff from the King, Auerbach, and Pat McLaughlin-penned song. He then provided emotional lyrics depicting the hurt and trauma stemming from the end of a relationship.

For his final song, King gave a tasteful rendition of “Break”, which recently got the acoustic treatment with Auerbach following El Dorado‘s chart-topping performance since its release. According to King, “Break” is about a breakup. “The one party knows they’re going to hurt the other one because it’s kind of in their way and the other person knows they’re going to be broken-hearted,” he says. “It’s just to kind of say that if you’re going to have your heart broken anyway, at least let me be the one to do so.”
