The Marcus King Band has announced its permanent new keyboardist following the recent and sudden departure of longtime member DeShawn “D’Vibes” Alexander.

Asheville, NC-based musician Simon Thomas George will take over the full-time keyboard duties in the Marcus King-led band. George is most notably known for his work with The Digs, an Asheville band that also features Ween drummer Claude Coleman Jr. George should be a good fit for the group, as he’s previously collaborated with King and different members of MKB in various settings.

Following DeShawn Alexander’s departure from The Marcus King Band, Peter Levin temporarily filled in on the keys. Levin is best known for his work with the Gregg Allman Band, as well as the Blind Boys of Alabama.

In addition to select shows opening for Chris Stapleton, The Marcus King Band is currently on tour through September with a series of nationwide headlining dates.
