Marcus King shared an in-studio performance of “Sweet Mariona” on Tuesday, which features The Black Keys frontman, Dan Auerbach. “Sweet Mariona” first arrived earlier this year on King’s debut solo albumEl Dorado.

The video depicts King at Auerbach’s Easy Eye Sound studio in Nashville, TN with a four-piece band behind him. The studio band includes a bassist, percussionist, and lap-steel player along with Auerbach on acoustic guitar.

King opens “Sweet Mariona” with some soulful licks while the lap steel adds a southern twang not heard on the album version of the song. After a few measures, King provides the serene opening vocals, “Sweet Mariona/Long as I’ve known ya/You were the apple of my eye/All the stars in my sky… I adore ya.” Vocal harmonies throughout the song highlight the short, sub-three-minute video.
