The six-string phenom Marcus King and members of his Marcus King Band celebrated the release of King’s debut solo album El Dorado with two performances in Nashville, TN on Friday night.
The first show of the night took place at Grimey’s New & Preloved Music. The East Nashville record store specializes in new and preloved music in every format and doubles as a music venue that hosts events spanning a wide variety of genres. Here, King gave a solo performance to a sold-out room.
Following that performance, he headed a few miles down the road to Dee’s Country Cocktail Lounge for the official El Dorado album release show where he met up with Marcus King Band drummer Jack Ryan and bassist Stephen Campbell as well as organist and frequent collaborator Peter Levin. There, they cycled through the entirety of the El Dorado tracks including “The Well”, “Wildflowers & Wine”, and “One Day She’s Here”. Additionally, they interwove other MKB originals as well as covers throughout the set. A particularly electric moment of the set was a cover of Black Sabbath‘s “War Pigs” that followed “The Well”.

MKB will continue the 2020 El Dorado tour with a show tonight at the Grand Ole Opry at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville. From there they will head to Panic En La Playa in Riviera Maya, Mexico before headlining dates across the western United States.
