Marcus King made his Jimmy Kimmel Live debut on Tuesday when the guitarist appeared on the popular late-night show to perform two songs off his new solo album, El Dorado.

The gifted young guitarist/vocalist first played El Dorado‘s lead single, “The Well”. The uptempo blues number is highlighted by blazing guitar riffs and powerful vocal sections layered atop a kick drum. A minimalist take on the full Marcus King Band—bassist Stephen Campbell and drummer Jack Ryan—backed King for “The Well”.

After playing the first single from El Dorado, King then performed the latest single from the album, “Beautiful Stranger”. In addition to Campbell on bass and Ryan on drums, two backing vocalists, a keyboardist, and a pedal steel player backed King. Compared to his performance at the Paste Studio Session and the acoustic rendition performed with El Dorado producer Dan Auerbach, this version of “Beautiful Stranger” closely resembled the album version. The backing vocalists harmonized well with King and compounded upon the soulful elements of the song.
