In a video shared onto Gibson’s YouTube, King sits down with industry personality Mark Agnesi to introduce his new Marcus King ES-345 Model—a slightly updated take on the 2016 Gibson Memphis ES-435TD reissue which had been his go-to instrument on tour until recently.

King and Agnesi begin their conversation with a trip down memory lane and talking about the significance of King’s presence at the all-star Crossroads Festival before turning to discuss the new guitar model. The guitar King is seen holding in the video is the prototype model for his new ES-435, which has he explains was based on his 1962 Gibson given to him by his grandfather which he no longer takes on the road. The red hollow body guitar features a small plaque that reads “Custom Made” between the bridge and the tailpiece.

King goes on to explain that his love for that style of Gibson guitar was birthed when his dad surprised him with his late grandfather’s 1962 Gibson ES-345 guitar prior to his first trip to New York City early on in his career.
