Way back in the 1980s, when Max Creek had only been around for 15 years or so, the band recognized the need to celebrate their community with something more than just another show. Though the memory is fuzzy at this point, according to drummer Bill Carbone, sometime in the mid-80s, Max Creek launched the annual “Holiday Office Party.”

This Saturday December 17, Max Creek hosts what is at least the 25th Holiday Office Party at Hoops n’ Hops in Simsbury, CT. Per tradition, the day begins with an all-ages, family-friendly show at 3pm. People bring their kids, or, for the longest-lasting fans of the 45 years strong Max Creek, their grandkids, out to hear some Rock and Roll, meet Santa, and, best of all, join the band on stage for a holiday sing-a-long. At 10pm, the band returns for a full, 2-set Creek show. Some folks rush the kids home and come right back, some repose at Hoops n’ Hops for a meal, and the toughest belly up and soldier out an epic day at the bar. It’s never hard to find a Creek Freek who will report that the Office Party is the best day of the year.

In a nod to the corporate world that seems so far removed from the average Max Creek concert, many people wear ties. Not necessarily suits, just ties, whether over an ugly Christmas sweater, a Max Creek shirt or, later in the evening, a bare chest…
