It may be a little early to start planning for the Holiday season, but a newly announced compilation album is getting music fans excited for a winter wonderland a couple months early. Today, Capitol Records announced their newest all-star holiday anthology album, Holiday’s RuleVol. 2, a follow-up to The first edition of Holiday’s Rule released in 2012.
The album features a wide swath of incredible artists, beginning with a fresh studio recording of Sir Paul McCartney, late-night host Jimmy Fallon, and his house band, The Roots, collaborating on McCartney’s synth-and-jingle-bells Christmas classic, “Wonderful Christmastime.” The two have previously performed the song together along with The Roots on The Tonight Show, back in 2013. The musical star power on the holiday compilation continues with tracks from Lake Street Dive, Norah Jones, Grace Potter, Roseanne Cash, The Decemberists and more
The sequel to the 2012 album features 16 new pop, rock, mariachi, jazz and folk holiday tunes by the likes of Norah Jones, Grace Potter, Roseanne Cash, The Decemberists, Judah & the Lion, Lake Street Dive and some up-and-coming acts, including Albin Lee Meldau, Barns Courtney, Calum Scott and Kandace Springs.
The original 2012 volume featured songs from McCartney, fun., The Shins, Rufus Wainwright and Sharon Van Etten, The Civil Wars, Calexico, Andrew Bird, The Head and the Heart, Punch Brothers and others.
