On Thursday, baseball fans rejoiced as the 2019 MLB season got underway. Pearl Jam lead guitarist, Rock and Roll Hall Of Fame-inductee, and Seattle local Mike McCready performed the national anthem at the Seattle Mariners‘ home opener.

Seattles fans greeted McCready with applause at the recently renamed T-Mobile Park (formerly Safeco Field), as the founding Pearl Jam guitar ripped up an electric rendition of the national anthem on a sunburst Fender Stratocaster. The Seattle Mariners went on to defeat the defending World Champion Boston Red Sox 12-4.
