In another telling sign of the simulation we’ve agreed to call reality, the soundtrack for Minions: The Rise of Gru will feature a star-studded lineup of artists paying tribute to hitmakers of the 1960s and ’70s. It’s either a simulation or just evidence of what combining a Universal Pictures budget with producer Jack Antanoff (Bleachers) can do. The soundtrack for the Despicale Me spin-off sequel comes out alongside the film on July 1st via Decca Records.

In addition to seeing some of the biggest stars of today like Tame ImpalaH.E.R.Phoebe Bridgers, and more covering the icons of yesteryear, the Minions: Rise of Gru soundtrack will also feature guest appearances from Diana Ross and Verdine White (Earth, Wind & Fire). White will join Brittany Howard on a cover of EW&F’s “Shining Star”, while Tame Impala and Miss Ross collaborate on a new, original piece, “Turn Up The Sunshine”.
