Moby has canceled the remaining scheduled appearances as part of his ongoing book tour. News of the cancellation comes after the famous electronic music DJ and songwriter recently completed the American leg of the tour in promotion of his latest memoir, Then It Fell Apart, which arrived back on May 7th.

According to a statement shared on Moby’s website, the 53-year-old has canceled “all upcoming public appearances for the foreseeable future.” The U.K./Ireland leg of his tour was scheduled to begin on June 1st at the Hay Festival in Hay-on-Wye, Hereford, England.

News of the promo tour’s sudden cancelation is clearly a result of the recent backlash from the personal details Moby included in his new book, which features scandalous stories pertaining to notable figures like Christina Ricci, Lana Del Rey, Donald Trump, and Natalie Portman. Portman has since made the point to object to his written claims that the two briefly dated many years ago.

Moby also took to his Instagram on Tuesday to share the following statement:

“I’m going to go away for awhile. But before I do I want to apologize again, and to say clearly that all of this has been my own fault. I am the one who released the book without showing it to the people I wrote about. I’m the one who posted defensively and arrogantly. I’m the one who behaved inconsiderately and disrespectfully, both in 2019 and in 1999. There is obviously no one else to blame but me. Thank you, and I’m sorry.”

News of the cancelation also comes just a little over a week after Moby celebrated the 20th anniversary of his 1999 Play LP, which has since become one of the most successful album releases by an electronic artist in history.

In all fairness, Moby has always hated touring and the rigors that came with a busy life on the road. Maybe the time away from the spotlight will be good for him.
