moe. has announced their plans for a four-night New Year’s run. The band will kick off their year-end celebrations with two nights at Burlington, VT’s Higher Ground on December 27th and 28th. After an off day on the 29th, moe. will hit the Stanley Theater in Utica, NY for a two-night stand on December 30th and 31st to ring in 2020.
These four shows, in addition to their previously announced hometown performances at Buffalo, NY’s Town Ballroom on November 14th–16th, will be the band’s only remaining dates this year. However, while the band’s late-2019 touring schedule is relatively light, the reason behind the sporadic dates is sure to excite moe. fans.
As bassist Rob Derhak explained in a statement along with their New Year’s run announcement,
This fall moe. is heading back into the studio for the 1st time in over 5 years. We’ve been riding a wave of excitement ever since our short-lived hiatus ended. So many great things have happened since we’ve been back on stage together. But the most fun we’ve been having has been our writing sessions together. This fall we are heading into the studio to record our 12th studio album. We have a large swath of songs to choose from, some of which we’ve been playing live and others that we’ve been working on in private. The down side of this is, because we have such a large assortment of songs to record, our live shows will be limited until 2020.
We are super excited to finally return to where it all began for us in Buffalo, NY November 14-16 to play at the Town Ballroom. We will also do a short New Years Eve run at Higher Ground in Burlington, VT Dec. 27 & 28, and the Stanley Theater in Utica, NY for Dec. 30 & 31.
Unfortunately those will be the only moe. shows until 2020. But be prepared for a few announcements soon and good things to come as we enter a new year and wish us well as we enter into our 30th year together as a band.
Tickets for the run at Higher Ground go on sale tomorrow, Wednesday, September 11th, at 10:00 a.m. local time. Onsale details for the run at the Stanley Theater have yet to be posted.
