moe. has released pro-shot video of the band’s performance of “Who You Calling Scared” from last year’s moe.down festival. The band’s annual upstate New York gathering traditionally takes place a month after its other festival, Illinois’ Summer Camp, but is far more moe.-centric.

The pro-shot release comes just one day after the band shared a studio take of “Who You Calling Scared”. The song, along with a mix of other original tunes which have already been incorporated into moe.’s live performances, will appear on the band’s upcoming studio album THIS IS NOT, WE ARE.

The Chuck Garvey-led tune opens with some erratic cymbal work from drummer Vinnie Amico before settling into a foundational groove. “Who You Calling Scared” gets the laid-back, daytime set treatment from cargo shorts and Birkenstock clad bassist Rob Derhak, who looks like he’s ready to step right offstage and behind the grill at a summer barbeque. The alternating solos between Garvey and Al Schnier give off just a taste of their range in this six-minute live cut, without going all in for an extended jam. After Garvey rips through one final solo chock full of blues riffs, the video fades out as the band transitions into “Rise”.

moe. was forced to postpone Summer Camp Music Festival to August 21st to 23rd due to the global pandemic. Given the cancellations of festivals into the fall, the gathering likely be ultimately pushed to 2021. This year, the band chose to throw a winter-time snoe.down mountain getaway rather than the summertime moe.down festival. Unfortunately, as it was slated for late March, that event was cancelled as the first wave of coronavirus rocked the United States. For up to date tour information, visit moe.’s website.
