Molly Tuttle brought her band Golden Highway on a jaunt through Texas, stopping on Friday at Gruene Hall in New Braunfels.

Following an opening set by Tennessee sing-songwriter Amythyst Kiah, Tuttle and her bluegrass posse dove into their latest album, City of Gold, with its opening track, “El Dorado”. Other songs from the album including “Where Did All the Wild Things Go?”, “Yosemite”, “Next Rodeo”, “Alice in the Bluegrass”, and “Down Home Dispensary” were also sprinkled throughout the setlist, with “San Joaquin” closing the set.

The new material was supplemented by crowd favorites like “Side Saddle”, “Dooley’s Farm”, and “Crooked Tree”, as well as covers of Jefferson Airplane‘s “White Rabbit”, Peter Rowan‘s “Midnight Moonlight”, and Beyoncé‘s “Texas Hold ‘Em”, which kicked off a single-mic encore on each night of the Texas run. Tuttle recently shared a video of herself covering the tune on banjo in a bathtub. Friday’s two-song encore concluded with “Nashville Mess Around”.
