Montreux Jazz Festival has released over 50 full-set videos from throughout the festival’s illustrious 54 year tenure.

The annual gathering in Switzerland was forced to delay announcing its consistently diverse lineup due to COVID-19, but have instead released a trove of archival material to hold fans over until the announcement can be made. The newly-released videos include sets from Ray Charles, Carlos Santana, Marvin Gaye, Wu-Tang Clan, Deep Purple, and many more.

“During this unprecedented time, fans will have the chance to experience iconic performances by some of their favourite artists from their living rooms,” a press statement said via NME. “Including rare concerts from ‘The Godfather of Soul’ James Brown, who played Montreux Jazz Festival in 1981 and the legendary Nina Simone in 1976. Fans will also be able to enjoy Johnny Cash’s 1994 Live at Montreux performance, as well as the ground-breaking hip hop group RUN DMC’s electrifying show in 2001.”

The collection also features Jethro Tull, Patti Smith, Phil Collins, Lou Reed, Yes, ZZ Top, Isaac Hayes, Korn, Alice Cooper, Rory Gallagher, and more.
