Last night, The Motet hit The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY for an exciting double bill with the legendary funky METERS. With their 2016 Fall Tour behind and new album Totem now fully underway, the CO-based funk outfit delivered a memorable debut at the historic venue. “It was a treat finally getting to see that room and rock that stage with my dudes,” says guitarist Ryan Jalbert, “The Cap has so much amazing history, and the mojo there is definitely palpable.”

The well-oiled, high-octane set featured both old favorites and stand-out tracks off the impressive new release. Over the course of the show, each band member got a chance to assert their skills, with Jalbert, Joey Porter (keys), Garrett Sayers (bass), Drew Sayers (sax), and Gabriel Mervine (trumpet) all taking impressive solos, propelled by bandleader Dave Watts‘ unrelenting drum beat. Recently-added singer Lyle Divinsky shined as the band’s master of ceremonies, his energetic dance moves, impressive stage presence, and soulful vocals engaging the crowd throughout, leaving them dancing and singing along.

Live For Live Music spent the afternoon with the band as they prepared for their Capitol Theatre blowout, helping document the days events via the band’s Snapchat (@themotet). Check out a recap of the day below with this collection of behind-the-scenes footage:
