As for The Motet, 2018 is shaping up to a monumental year for the Colorado-based funk seven-piece. Since 1998, the group has been known for its fusion of fiery funk, powerful soul, and dynamic improvisations. However, most recently, with the departure of former trumpet player Gabe Mervine and the injection of new blood with the addition of trumpeter Parris Fleming, the band has solidified its lineup and is enjoying a process of rediscovery and evolution. With vocalist Lyle Divinsky, also a relatively new member of the group along with Fleming and saxophonist Drew Sayers, leading the way paired with the veteran guidance of Dave Watts, Joey Porter, Garrett Sayers, and Ryan Jalbert, The Motet is looking better than ever as they prepare to release a brand-new album in 2018 as a follow-up to their latest album, Totem.
