Recently, Bay Area-based psychedelic rock outfit The Mother Hips announced a new live album, Live At The Great American Music Hall, due out on November 29th via Blue Rose Music.
Recorded over The Mother Hips’ 2017 holiday run at San Francisco, CA’s iconic Great American Music Hall, the live album is comprised of 28 tracks. The show marked founding member Tim Bluhm‘s official return to the stage following a horrific paragliding accident in 2015. For the Great American Music Hall shows on December 15th and 16th, 2017, Bluhm was joined by co-founding guitarist Greg Loicano, drummer John Hofer, multi-instrumentalist Jason Crosby, bassist Gabe Nelson, and vocalist Scheila Gonzalez.
The Mother Hips shared their thoughts on the forthcoming release. They explained,
This album consists of recordings of concerts performed on December 15th and 16th, 2017 at San Francisco’s famed Great American Music Hall. We feel this album represents well the band as it was at that time, and that it also represents well the community that has grown around the music contained herein. In that sense these are not recordings of a band playing to a live audience so much as they are recordings of a community coming together and making the sounds of joy, of appreciation, of friendships new and old, and even some sadness. There are lots of others sounds on these recordings too but you’ll have to just listen for yourself. You might even hear your own voice in there. We hope you enjoy them as much as we do.Â
Fans can head here to pre-order the limited edition double-CD version of Live At The Great American Music Hall. A portion of all revenue is donated to the Blue Rose Foundation, which provides pre-school scholarships to financially disadvantaged children.
