British folk-rockers Mumford & Sons traveled to the Big Easy earlier this month for a headlining slot on the final day of New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. While they traveled from England to perform at the Fair Grounds, Marcus Mumford and company clearly understood the local assignment: During their encore, the band welcomed two other Jazz Fest headlining artists from New Orleans—Trombone Shorty (trombone) and Jon Batiste (melodica)—in addition to secret-weapon guitarist Celisse to contribute to an explosive version of the NOLA-focused traditional folk song, “House of the Rising Sun”.
