Last year’s event saw Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir team up with his RatDog bandmates Steve Kimock, Jay Lane, and Robin Sylvester during the show, which also featured Dan “Lebo” Lebowitz, Jason Crosby, DJ Logic, Dave Ellis, David Nelson, Matt Kelly, and Weir’s old Furthur bandmates Sunshine Becker and Jeff Pehrson.
Following Haiti’s devastating earthquake in 2010, Music Heals International Founder and Executive Director, Sara Wasserman, began volunteering in the country through J/P Haitian Relief Organization (J/P HRO). Sara used music as a tool to help children cope and find joy after this traumatic uprooting. After countless visits to the Port-au-Prince community of Delmas 32, she saw the unmistakable impact of music as Haiti began to heal and rebuild. Partnering with J/P HRO, Little Kids Rock, and local Haitian educators, Sara started Music Heals International as a way to bring music education to the children of Delmas 32 and communities beyond.
Proceeds from the upcoming sixth annual Music Heals International benefit concert will help fund the organization’s mission of bringing music and musicians to the children of Haiti and globally to inspire achievement, resiliency, and creativity.
