Announced on Tuesday, the anniversary show will take place on August 9th, one day ahead of their previously announced performance at New York City’s Forest Hills Stadium, which was initially billed as the band’s only east coast performance of 2019. According to the band’s announcement, the August 9th show will hear them perform The Tennessee Fire in its entirety, along with a few more songs written from that era in the band’s history. The upcoming performance will be the band’s first show at “The Cap” since their three-night run at the historic venue back in December 2012.
In addition to taking the stage to celebrate their 1999 album, the band also announced a full 20th-anniversary reissue of The Tennessee Fire in the form of a 3-LP deluxe edition containing 16 unreleased bonus tracks. Some of the new recordings to be featured on the deluxe edition include “Lil Billy” (Demo), “Evelyn is Not Real” (First Version), “Weeks Go by Like Days” (Alternate Version), and “The Bear” (first + third versions).
The deluxe edition will also come with previously unseen early band photos, original letters of direction for track sequence, artwork from Jim James, and more. The reissue is scheduled to arrive on August 2nd.
“I cannot believe it has now been over 20 years since we recorded THE TENNESSEE FIRE on my cousin John’s grandparents farm out in Shelbyville, KY in a little studio called ‘Above the Cadillac.'” the band said in a lengthy statement shared with their announcement on Tuesday. “We offer our heartfelt thanks to everyone who has listened since the beginning/jumped on along the way, and all the new folks just hearing the music and getting into it. Much has changed and shifted over the years in the world of My Morning Jacket both on earth and in other realms, and I am so grateful to everyone who has ever been involved with the band on any level that helped it grow.”
