My Morning Jacket now joins fellow headline-level acts like Dead & Company, Phish, and more as the latest band to launch an archive concert video series as the live music industry continues its ongoing hiatus. Announced on Wednesday, My Morning Jacket will share full-show, pro-shot footage from their past performances every month beginning with their 2016 performances at the Tivoli Theatre in Chattanooga, TN and the Shaky Knees Festival in Atlanta, GA.
The band’s 2016 Shaky Knees performance will broadcast for free this Friday (May 1st) beginning at 8 p.m. ET via the My Morning Jacket Facebook and YouTube pages, along with the popular concert streaming platform Nugs.tv. The Tivoli Theatre performance is now available via Nugs. Similar to the webcast setup for other bands, MMJ is asking fans to donate what money they can to a set non-profit or philanthropic beneficiary, with this week’s being Crew Nation.
My Morning Jacket’s last performance took place this past August at New York City’s Forest Hills Stadium following a brief run of select shows at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre and New York’s The Capitol Theater. The band is set to appear at Southern California’s Ohana Festival scheduled for the weekend of September 25th–27th at Doheny State Beach in Dana Point, CA, but any event’s future is a mystery due to the global health crisis—as of this week, there are one million confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United States.
MMJ singer/guitarist Jim James has kept himself busy over the last few weeks, has he’s shared remote performances in tribute to Bill Withers and John Prine.
