On December 14th, 2011, My Morning Jacket performed a sold-out show at Madison Square Garden. MMJ’s sprawling 24-song, two-and-a-half-hour show at the New York City venue made for a highlight performance in the band’s history that night, thanks in part to the mix of special guests and choice covers throughout the night.
Ben Bridwell from Band of Horses (who were also on the bill) joined MMJ on stage for the ensemble’s rendition of “Wonderful”, and flutist Brian Jackson and the Dearland Horns also came out to help play during “The Bottle”. To bring symmetry to the evening, the show came to a climactic close with both Band of Horses and My Morning Jacket joining forces to cover Bing Crosby‘s holiday classic, “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” during the seven-song encore.
