10-year-old rock prodigy Nandi Bushell has been a lone ray of sunshine among a year full of disastrous headlines. After taking the internet by storm with her cover of Rage Against The Machine‘s “Guerilla Radio“, a heartwarming exchange with Tom Morello, and a drum challenge with Dave Grohl, Nandi is back with a cover of Slipknot‘s “Unsainted”, sporting her brand new drum set.

On December 13th Lenny Kravitz and Nate Smith presented Bushell with her brand new, custom Ludwig Legacy mahogany drum set in a video posted to Nandi’s YouTube page. Bushell explained in the video how she immediately fell in love with that kit when she jammed on it with Kravitz at the O2 arena in London. Less than two weeks later, on December 26th, Bushell unveiled her “Unsainted” cover on the new kit and even tried out a double bass pedal for the first time.

“Yes! I am a total metal head!” said Bushell in the video’s description.

She continued, “I love how awesome the drumming is in @Slipknot ! This is my first attempt at double pedals! Taking my playing to the next level. This song is called I #unsainted by #slipknot! Incredible drumming Jay Weinberg! This song brings my A game Corey Taylor #metalhead #metal #heavymetal #doublepedals. Thank you Ludwig Drums my new kits is sounding awesome! The short, one-minute clip sees a high-energy performance from Nandi, who puts the double pedals to good work. Her fills and timing are impressive for anyone, let alone a 10-year-old—but that type of musicianship is something we’ve all come to expect from Nandi.
