Circles Around The Sun premiered newly-unearth footage of the band performing with the late Neal Casal on Thursday. The video with the founding guitarist comes from CATS’ show at The Basement East in Nashville, TN on May 9th, 2019.

Though the video is only a brief 2:43 minutes, it provides a snapshot of the instrumental dance band in the middle of one of their trademark extended grooves. With Casal’s iconic tone leading the way through the serene waters of Adam MacDougall‘s expansive keys, the unnamed track cuts to the heart of what Circles Around The Sun was and is still about. A minor detail that further exemplifies Casal’s delicate and loving nature is the fact he dons a Grateful Shred t-shirt, the Grateful Dead cover band featuring CATS bassist Dan Horne.

This video documents the near end of Circles Around The Sun’s original incarnation with Casal, who died of suicide on August 26th, 2019. Per Neal’s final wishes, the band has continued, hosting a rotating cast of guitarists including Eric Krasno and Scott Metzger. In August, the band announced that John Lee Shannon would take over on guitar going forward.
