Neal Francis has shared a new music video for “Problems”. The song initially arrived in audio form with his latest album, In Plain Sight, on November 5th via ATO Records.

In this new music video, the Chicago-based singer-songwriter finds himself standing in a retro, ’70s-themed doctor’s office with a microphone hanging from the ceiling. As a professional does, Francis grabs the microphone and begins singing the tune as patients shuffle in. While some seem to enjoy his soulful vocals, others look on with disdain.

As the second chorus picks up the walls begin to close in, which of course, causes everyone to panic. Francis, however, remains unphased and continues singing as if this claustrophobic dance party is all a part of the plan. While some eventually join in on the fun, others struggle to remove themselves and find safety as Neal sings the song’s titular refrain, “Lord knows I’ve got enough problems/ I don’t need one more, one more.”

“To us, the song is about indecision and choosing or not choosing paths in life based on various levels of apprehension,” directors Alec Basse and Max Moore said in a press release. “Naturally, this inaction leads to unforeseen consequences. To visualize this, we aimed to squish Neal between the walls of time and, while he messed about singing and dancing, his world becomes smaller and smaller. Eventually, life chooses your path for you. We also wanted to match Neal’s love for tried and true analog creation and shot the video on a late 60s 16mm Eclair NPR. There is no beating film.”
