Neil Young recently returned to his hometown of Omemee, Ontario to perform “Comes A Time” from inside of an empty Coronation Hall, and video of which was shared on Monday. The song comes from the singer-songwriter’s 1978 album of the same name.

This marks Young’s second-ever performance at Coronation Hall, following his 2017 concert that was filmed and later distributed as Hometown. The concert film, directed by his now-wife Daryl Hannah, is available to watch on Neil Young Archives which Young has made free through the holidays.

While it may be odd at first to see Young on a stage as small as Coronation Hall’s, but fans should also be pleased just to see the 75-year-old musician outside his home. Since March, Young has shared a number of outdoor acoustic performances filmed by his wife which have been branded as the Fireside Sessions series. Each performance took place at his home in the Colorado Rockies. Now it appears Young is on the move and has returned to where it all started.

“Coronation Hall in Omemee, Ontario, is a wonderful old theater,” he wrote on Neil Young Archives. “It holds memories of my family, all together in that little town. My dad played Coronation Hall once in a local show as my mother, my brother, and I sat in the audience.”

He also spoke of his 2017 concert there, saying, “I was uncharacteristically nervous that night in 2017 playing Coronation Hall by myself for the first time and streaming to the world. Hometown is an NYA tradition, showing every year, right here through the holidays.”

Watch Neil Young perform “Comes A Time” in an empty Coronation Hall on the Neil Young Archives website, free through the holidays. The service will also air Hometown beginning Tuesday at 7 p.m. PT.
