As reported by Consequence of Sound, the iconic Neil Young is the star of a new western called Paradox. The film is directed by famous actress and Young’s girlfriend Daryl Hannah, marking her full-length film directorial debut, though Hannah has previously directed Young’s 2017 webcast, Somewhere in Canada. The film will also feature Young’s current touring backing band, Promise of the Real, as well as Willie Nelson and Nelson’s sons, Lukas and Micah.

The film is expected to be premiered at South By Southwest this March. Here is South By Southwest’s official description of the movie:

Time is fluid in this far-fetched, whimsical western tale of music and love. Somewhere in the future past, The Man In the Black Hat hides out between heists at an old stagecoach stop with Jail Time, the Particle Kid, and an odd band of outlaws. Mining the detritus of past civilizations, they wait… for the Silver Eagle, for the womenfolk, and for the full moon’s magic to give rise to the music and make the spirits fly.

In addition to starring in the film, Young will also be taking on the role of producer, though in the credits, he is listed under his director pseudonym, Bernard Shakey. It is likely that segments from Young and Promise of the Real’s 2016 concert in Telluride, Colorado, will also make it into the movie, as told by Neil Young’s fan site, Thrasher’s Wheat.
