Recently, funk-rock quartet The New Mastersounds announced their forthcoming studio album, Shake It, set to arrive on September 13th via Color Red. The studio album will follow the 2018 releases of Renewable Energy and The Nashville Session 2, and marks the band’s first full-length release through guitarist Eddie Roberts‘ Color Red label.

On Friday, The New Mastersounds—comprised of Eddie Roberts (guitar), Simon Allen (drums), Pete Shand (bass guitar), and Joe Tatton (organ/piano)—released their latest single, “Kings & Queens”, featuring vocalist Lamar Williams Jr. Williams, son of former Allman Brothers Band bassist Lamar Williams, is no stranger to The New Mastersounds, as they previously collaborated on a track, “Trouble”,  with John Macy and Thievery Corporation drummer Jeff Franca shared back in December.

Simon Allen shared his thoughts on the new release. He explained,

This song started out as a bouncy drum groove, which inspired the bass line, which inspired a riff, a chord progression and shortly afterward, the lyrics and the horn lines. It all came together in the studio surprisingly quickly from a little iPhone demo recording. The creative collaboration that led to this track was a joy to be a part of. Developing the lyrics and phrases with Lamar really opened my ears. The end result is a funky, punchy, feel-good, 3-minute love song with killer horn lines and a smoking guitar solo!
