With musical hearts aching around the world over the loss of Prince, a krewe in New Orleans has assembled a righteous tribute in his honor. What better way to celebrate the tireless efforts of a Purple musician than with a Second Line parade in the city of New Orleans, LA.

While Prince’s ties run deep in Minnesota, his music influenced musicians worldwide. With elements of funk and jazz in his music, its no surprise that New Orleans has seen many Prince tributes over the past few days, including this glorious cover of “Purple Rain” by Anders Osborne.

Local musicians have announced a Second Line parade, to be held this evening, April 25th, starting at the Ooh Poo Pah Doo Bar. The event will start with a poetry reading, and erupt into a powerful Purple parade throughout the city. There was originally supposed to be a ceremonial release of doves, but PETA actually asked the organizers to cancel that aspect of the event, which was agreed upon by the organizers.
