The long-running Newport Jazz Festival has revealed the lineup for its 2022 event set to return to Newport, RI’s Fort Adams State Park on July 29th–31st.

This year’s festival will feature an interdisciplinary mix of jazz greats, jazz-leaning contemporary favorites, and talented wild cards including Norah Jones, Esperanza Spalding, The Fearless Flyers, Angelique Kidjo’s Remain In Light, Terence Blanchard, PJ Morton, The Ron Carter Quartet, BADBADNOTGOOD, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Lettuce, Cory Wong, Sons of Kemet, Nubya Garcia, Jazzmeia Horn, Nate Smith + KINFOLK, Jason Moran & The Bandwagon, Benevento/Russo Duo Acoustic, Nicholas Payton Trio, Maria Schneider Orchestra, Makaya McCraven, and Yussef Dayes.

Also on tap to perform at Newport Jazz Festival 2022 are Antonio Sanchez & Bad Hombre, MonoNeon, Shabaka Hutchings, Vijay Iyer Trio, The Baylor Project, The Soul Rebels, Sampa The Great, Celisse, Emmet Cohen Trio, The Nth Power, Theon Cross, Thana Alexa: Ona, Lady Blackbird, Tuba Skinny, Samara Joy, Melanie Charles, Giveton Gelin, Holly Bowling, Laufey, and more artists to be announced.

A number of special ensembles also dot the 2022 Newport Jazz Festival lineup, from The Jack DeJohnette Quartet with Don ByronMarr Garrison, and Luisito Quintero to the powerful quartet of Pino PalladinoBlake MillsSam Gendel, and Abe Rounds to a celebration of 100 years of Charles Mingus by Carmen Castaldi and The Mingus Big Band and more.

In addition, acclaimed bassist and Newport Jazz artistic director Christian McBride will once again host a special, improvisational Newport “Jawn” in 2022 featuring Makaya McCraven, Chris Potter, Vijay Iyer, Brandee Younger, and Mike Stern. The 2021 edition of this Newport session, billed as the Jam Jawn, featured McBride alongside fellow renowned instrumentalists John Scofield (guitar), Joe Russo (drums), and Marco Benevento (keys) with surprise guests Stuart Bogie, and members of David Ostwald’s Louis Armstrong Eternity Band. Following the death of Newport festival magnate George Wein last year at age 95, the 2022 edition of Newport Jazz will also feature a loving tribute to the event’s co-founder featuring “very special guests to be announced.”

Three-Day General Admission Tickets and 3-Day Student Tickets go on sale today, Thursday, March 24th at 11 a.m. ET via DICE. No ticket is required for children under ten.
