[UPDATE 5/28/23]: Newport Jazz Festival has revealed a number of notable additions to the artist lineup for its 69th anniversary edition, set to take place at Fort Adams State Park in Newport, RI on August 4th–6th, 2023.
New additions to the Newport Jazz Festival bill include The Soul Rebels featuring lauded rappers Rakim and Talib Kweli, Marcus Miller, Dave Holland New Quartet, Durand Jones, Adi Oasis, Derrick Hodge, Armstrong Now: Louis at Newport, Angel Bat Dawid & Tha Brothahood, Bobby Watson All-Star Quintet, Jennifer Hartswick & Nick Cassarino Duo, Claudia Acuna, Melvis Santa & Jazz Orishas, Lauren Sevian’s LSQ, Camille Thurman with The Darrell Green Quartet, and Matthew Whitaker. They join a lineup that already boasted a wealth of exciting acts including Joe Russo’s Almost Dead with Kamasi Washington, Herbie Hancock, DJ Pee .Wee (Anderson .Paak), Soulive, DOMi & JD Beck, Jon Batiste, Thundercat, and many more.

[3/22/23]: Newport Jazz Festival will return to Fort Adams State Park in Newport, RI for its 69th anniversary edition on August 4th–6th, 2023. This year’s lineup features a wide range of jazz greats and L4LM favorites including Joe Russo’s Almost Dead with Kamasi Washington, Herbie Hancock, DJ Pee .Wee (Anderson .Paak), Soulive, DOMi & JD Beck, Jon Batiste, Thundercat, and many more.
Founded in 1954 as the “First Annual American Jazz Festival,” Newport Jazz Festival will kick off on Friday, August 4th with performances by Joe Russo’s Almost Dead with Kamasi Washington, Kamasi Washington, DJ Pee .Wee, Soulive, DOMi & JD Beck and more.
The lineup for Saturday, August 5th is equally strong but leans more towards straight jazz with sets by Jon Batiste, Thundercat, Big Gigantic Does Jazz, Christian McBride’s Jam Jawn, Charles Llloyd New Quartet, Arroj Aftab, Vijay Iyer, Julian Lage, Orrin Evens Quintet, The War and Treaty, Superblue (Kurt Elling and Charlie Hunter with Nate Smith and Huntertones Horns), and more.
On Sunday the festival will welcome jazz legend Herbie Hancock as well as Diana Krall, Samara Joy, A MoodSwing Reunion (featuring Joshua Redman, Brad Mehldau, Christian McBride, and Brian Blade), Scary Goldings (Scary Pockets and Larry Goldings) featuring John Scofield, and Cimafunk, with more to be announced.
