On Friday, November 21st, Dopapod, along with Alan Evans’ Playonbrother and Teddy Midnight, will bring a triple-threat of grooves to the Gramercy Theatre. These three bands are all at the top of their game, each bringing a fresh sound to what will surely be a non-stop dancing party.

Dopapod’s music borders on a number of genres, sounding electronic at some moments and funky in others. Better yet, the band seems to flow through these influences seamlessly, with ornate compositions that meld into mind-altering jams. With Eli Winderman working some otherworldly keys, Rob Compa wailing on guitar, Chuck Jones keeping things low on the bass and Scotty Zwang leading the charge behind the kit, this band is capable of getting into some serious jamspace. Check out footage from their 2013 performace in Live Oak, FL:

Alan Evans’ Playonbrother is easily one of the funkiest bands around. The brainchild of music mastermind Alan Evans, who comes from quite the musical family (including Soulive’s Neal Evans), Playonbrother is a high-octane funky dance party. We spoke to Evans recently about his band’s recent lineup change and official live release, Live @ Evergroove Studio 7/14/2014. You can read that interview here, but, if you take one message away from it:

It’s an amazing thing when a band is firing on all cylinders.  You really feel like you can do anything.” – Alan Evans

Teddy Midnight is one of the brightest up-and-coming bands to emerge from the NYC scene. Their late-night free-flowing jazzy tunes will have you tapping your feet, and feeling like you’re the coolest cat in town. Their recent eponymous EP showcases the band’s smooth sound and instrumental prowess; these guys are certainly bound for big things. Check out our review of their EP here.

With Dopapod, Alan Evans’ Playonbrother, and Teddy Midnight together, this triple threat can’t be stopped! Tickets for the show on 11/21 at The Gramercy Theatre are on-sale now.
