Over the past months, Damon Albarn has spoken about reviving The Gorillaz, a group that has been on hiatus since 2012. Albarn has been working on a number of projects, ranging from a solo album to a modern musical adaptation of Alice in Wonderland. While Albarn has hinted at the Gorillaz’s return, the group’s co-creator Jamie Hewlett has finally confirmed it.
Hewlett posted artwork of Murdoc and Noodle, two of the fictional cartoon members of the band, on his Instagram yesterday. When fans speculated on the band’s re-emergence, Hewlett simply responded, “Yes Gorillaz Returns.”
Of course, three words on a social media page is very little information, but considering Albarn and Hewlett are talking about the Gorillaz return, it seems as if it’s only a matter of time before the announcement is made official. We’ll be sure to update you.
