Medeski Martin and Wood Are Recording With John Scofield

Based solely on a photo posted to Facebook, it seems Medeski Martin and Wood are back in the studio, and recording with their longtime collaborator, guitarist John Scofield.

The veteran jazz trio is comprised of John Medeski (keyboards), Billy Martin (drums), and Chris Wood (bass). Each member plays various incantations of their instrument, i.e. Wood will play an electric or stand-up bass, depending on the tune. MMW songs tend to focus on intricate rhythms as opposed to outright melodies.

However, the trio frequently works with guitarist John Scofield. He has recorded three albums with MMW, all of whom are very excited to be working on this new project. The caption associated with the picture reads: “Happy New Year Folks! We’ve been a little quiet on Facebook because we’ve been in the studio, working hard!”

This release is highly anticipated by all of us at L4LM.
