WWOZ 90.7 FM New Orleans has announced a follow-up to April’s “Festing In Place” virtual festival, dubbed “The Next Fest Thing”. Artists such as Dr. John, Jimmy Buffett, The Neville Brothers, and more will take part in the festival that runs from Friday, September 4th to Sunday, September 14th.

Produced in cooperation with the Archive of the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, “The Next Fest Thing” will also include performances by Fats Domino, Tank and the Bangas, Allen Toussaint, James Booker, Jon Batiste, Mavis Staples, and other jazz, blues, Cajun, and zydeco artists.

Split over two weekends, the first four days of music will take place from Friday (9/4) to Monday (9/7), with the second segment running from September 11th to the 13th. Music will take place from 11:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. each night. Fans in New Orleans can listen live on WWOZ 90.7, and those outside of the city can stream via the station’s website.

“Pull out your festival shirts, hats, flags, chairs and get ready to celebrate the best of New Orleans music from your backyard, your front porch or your air-conditioned living room-anywhere in the world!” festival organizers said in a Facebook post announcing the event. The radio station also urged potential sponsors to reach out via email at festinginplace@wwoz.org.
