Nile Rodgers has confirmed that he will be releasing the first new Chic album since 1992, as per a brand new agreement with Warner Bros. The record will come out in June, while a leading single will drop on March 20th.

The new agreement also includes the absorption of Nile Rodgers and music exec Michael Ostin’s label, Land of the Good Groove, into Warner. Rodgers seems optimistic about these new arrangements, saying the following in a statement:

“My relationship with Warner and Michael [Ostin] formally started with Like A Virgin. The album is double-diamond, just like our friendship is.”

This marks Rodgers’ first Chic LP since 1992’s Chic-ism, which was released via Warner Bros. Since then, Rodgers has remained active, producing for Daft Punk, Duran Duran, Avicii, Disclosure, Sam Smith and Rudimental. He recently published an auto-biography, and will receive the President’s Merit Award for Producers and Engineers, during the upcoming Grammy week.

Unfortunately, founding bassist Bernard Edwards passed away in 1996, shortly after Edwards and Rodgers reunited for the last Chic album. Rodgers has continued the Chic name, however, recruiting new musicians along the way and upholding the legacy of this powerful disco/funk group.
