Nine Inch Nails has been creating buzz in the news as of late with the announcements of both their new album, Bad Witch (due out June 22), and an extensive North American tour with new ticketing system meant to foil scalpers. Yesterday, NIN’s Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross went on Zane Lowe’s Beats 1, where he gave fans their first look at the album with new single “God Break Down The Door”.  In addition to sharing the new track, Reznor spoke about the inspiration behind the smaller venues on the band’s upcoming Cold And Black And Infinite North American tour. He explained:

“We went to see LCD Soundsystem’s show at the Palladium. … You know they could’ve played at The Forum but they chose to play a bunch nights in a smaller room…we left talking about it for a week. We like LCD but we were blown away…it just fucking felt good and it was exciting and it was right there and everybody was into it. … We thought, we want to do something in the world of that, where it feels like, if you get in to see the show, you get a unique experience. You are not in row a million with the security guard bitching at you.”

Their newly announced tour is just that, including stops at beloved theaters (rather than arenas), culminating appropriately with four nights of their own at the Palladium.
