On May 31st, 1980, the 9:30 Club opened its doors in Washington, D.C., and has since become one of the city’s most iconic venues. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 9:30 club, NPR has released over 100 archived performances from 2005-2017, which the organization initially streamed live to its internet audience.

Beginning with a performance by Bright Eyes in 2005, and ending with Tank And The Bangas set during NPR‘s 10th Anniversary Party in 2017, the archive dump has something in it for everyone. Artists like Bon Iver, Jeff Tweedy, Margo Price, The Raconteurs, Explosions In The Sky, Sylvan Esso, Galactic, Wilco, and even My Morning Jacket are included. While many of the earlier shows come in audio format only, as the year’s progress, video becomes available too.

“The 9:30 Club changed my life. I was there in the beginning as a musician in the first band to play that club, Tiny Desk Unit,” NPR writer and Tiny Desk Concert producer Bob Boilen noted in his writeup of the archive release.

Additional artists included are Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Sonic Youth, OK Go, The Black Keys, Ray LaMontagne, The Soul Rebels, The Kills, Sleater-Kinney, and many more. Celebrate the 40th anniversary of the 9:30 club with the entire archival release below and head to the NPR website to donate and ensure future releases.
