Long-running live music streaming platform nugs announced some big developments coming to the app on Thursday. This summer, the service will offer All Access subscriptions for $5 a month for four months, introduce new original content, launch an app for Roku players, and much more.
Now through June 29th, new subscribers can sign up for nugs for $5 as opposed to the usual $19.99 monthly rate. Through the summer, they will have access to all the subscriber-exclusive livestreams, extensive live audio archives, and forthcoming original and curated content from nugs. Longtime nugs users will notice the platform’s new logo and color scheme, but that’s far from the only change coming to the familiar app. Subscribers can now easily stream live concert video directly to their TVs with the new nugs app for Roku, with the streaming service coming to more TV platforms soon. Viewers on Roku can tune in live for Billy Strings‘ spring tour, Goose‘s summer tour leading up to the band’s Madison Square Garden debut on June 28th, live video feed from Northlands Music & Arts Festival in New Hampshire, and much more. And in the mobile app for iOS and Android, users can listen to some of the biggest tours in the country and worldwide, including Bruce Springsteen‘s “Land of Hopes & Dreams” Tour in Europe, Metallica‘s “M72 World Tour,” and Pearl Jam‘s 2024–2025 Dark Matter World Tour.
“nugs has always been about bringing fans closer to the music they love, whether it’s streaming a show you missed last night or reliving an epic moment from 1995,” nugs founder and CEO Brad Serling said. “This rebrand is the next evolution of that mission. With our new look, easy big-screen access via Roku, and new features, we’re making it easier than ever to turn your living room into a front row seat. The $5/month summer promo is our way of inviting fans to catch the magic as it happens.”
Today, nugs is debuting an original series, Quick Hits with Ari Fink. This original, weekly program featuring the longtime SiriusXM Phish Radio and Jam On host will round up the week’s top stories from inside the jam band subculture and catalog its occasional crossovers into the mainstream. Fink will produce and host each episode and lead conversations with emerging and established musical voices including Dave Schools, Warren Haynes, Karina Rykman, Nikki Glaspie, Daniel Donato, Ryan Stasik and new Umphrey’s McGee drummer Scotty Zwang, Cory Wong, and more to discuss recent events, upcoming projects, and whatever they’ve got on their mind.
Along with nugs’ push into original content, the platform will also host new curated playlists. The platform will gather top live picks from its dedicated staff, a rotating cast of artists, music-industry leaders, and more. Available now on the revamped app are a series of curated playlists, including Live 101 with crash courses in the Grateful Dead, Billy Strings, Goose, and Pearl Jam; Sit-Ins with guest spots by Bob Weir and Phil Lesh; the Weekly Live Stash with fresh jams from King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Leftover Salmon, Umphrey’s McGee, and Billy Strings; and much more.
