Located just 12 miles southeast of Lockhart and an hour from Austin or San Antonio, Old Settlers Music Festival has served as a breeding ground for all walks of American music since 1987. Throughout its history, the festival has bounced around to numerous homes. In 2018, however, organizers found a permanent site for the event at Old Settlers Homestead in Tilmon. Comprised of 145 acres of rolling meadows and tree-covered campgrounds, the site offers play areas for children, a variety of food and beer vendors, and a fully electrified campground powered by renewable green energy.

The festival is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and hosts the annual Youth Talent Competition. To date, the competition has awarded several college music scholarships and launched the career of Grammy-winner Sarah Jarosz. Musicians younger than 18 are encouraged to compete for cash, a 2023 stage slot, professional mentoring, and special recognition. For more information and to apply click here.
