The Orion Amphitheater will roll out the red carpet next spring for its grand opening with The First Waltz concert series. The Huntsville, AL venue will open May 13th–15th, 2022 with concerts by Brittany Howard, Drive-By Truckers, Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit, and more.
Also on tap for The First Waltz are Emmylou Harris, John Paul White, Mavis Staples, St. Paul & The Broken Bones, and Waxahatchee, with more to be announced. The weekend of concerts will wrap on Sunday with special performances by Hunstville’s own The Aeolians of Oakwood University, Kelvin Wooten & Deqn Sue, Translee, and Huntsville Community Drumline.

There are artists performing at The First Waltz who have never played in Huntsville before alongside others who have lived and breathed this special region of Northern Alabama their whole lives. Located adjacent to Huntsville’s emerging MidCity District, the Orion Amphitheater will go beyond a concert space as it provides a year-round venue for a multitude of community events including seasonal markets, food and film festivals, regional theater productions, environmental symposiums, and more.
