Osiris Media will launch a new podcast later this month entitled, Highway Butterfly: The Stories of Neal Casal. Set to premiere on September 10th, the podcast will serve as a companion to the upcoming Highway Butterfly tribute album to the late guitarist who died of suicide in 2019.

At the helm of the Highway Butterfly podcast are the same individuals who headed the album, Jim Scott and Dave Schools (Widespread Panic, Hard Working Americans). The audio series will explore the massive 41-track tribute album with its producers as well as some of the 130 artists who participated in its creation. Interview subjects will discuss their song selection and relationship to the prolific guitarist who founded Circles Around The Sun and played with (pre-cancelation) Ryan Adams and Chris Robinson Brotherhood as well as released a dozen solo albums.

“Working on the Neal Casal Highway Butterfly project was a long-term emotional investment: saddening for those of us mourning the loss of a brilliant artist and friend, yet healing in the fellowship of recording Neal’s songs,” Schools, who will also co-produce the podcast, said. “Ultimately Highway Butterfly stands as one of the most rewarding projects I have ever completed. I can’t wait for everyone to hear what the Highway Butterfly podcasts bring to light from these selfless artists who brought their unique magic to this project.”
