Oteil Burbridge & Friends stopped by Seattle, WA’s Neptune Theatre on Wednesday. The Dead & Company bassist was accompanied by his current touring lineup of Melvin Seals on keys, Steve Kimock and Eric Krasno on guitar, and John Kimock on drums. Seattle saxophonist Skerik also swung by to join in on a few tunes throughout the two-set performance.

The band opened with Kool & the Gang‘s “Let the Music Take Your Mind” with Skerik on sax, followed by “Rooster” and “Hot ‘Lanta”, a song from Oteil’s former cohort, The Allman Brothers Band, that also featured Skerik on sax. The rest of first set consisted mostly of Grateful Dead and Jerry Garcia tunes including a psychedelic “Dark Star”, “Gomorrah”, and “Cats Under the Starts”, plus “No More Doubt”.

For set two, Oteil & Friends offered an eclectic selection of songs from the band members’ respective catalogs. They opened the set with a cover of Dr. Lonnie Smith‘s “Play It Back”, and then Oteil & the Peacemakers‘ “Too Many Times” led into Eric Krasno’s “Leave Me Alone”, followed by Jerry Garcia’s “Run for the Roses” and a cover of The Band‘s “I Shall Be Released”. The band closed the show with “Midnight Moonlight” by Old & In the Way and “Unconditional Love” by Eric Krasno.
