When Panic! at the Disco heard that the Westboro Baptist Church planned to protest their Sunday night concert in Missouri, they took action. Panic pledged to donate $20 per member of the Westboro Baptist Church that showed up to protest their concert. Proceeds were to go to the Human Rights Campaign.

Members of the church also wrote a “parody” of Panic’s song “I Write Sins Not Tragedies” entitled “You Love Sin What A Tragedy” to target Panic’s frontman Brendon Urie who had announced his bisexuality in the past.

Prior to the show, the band posted via their Twitter page:

After the show last night, the band released an update on their Facebook, saying,

“Thank you Westboro Baptist Church for the update on the total amount you donated to the Human Rights Campaign today. $20×13=weak. We’re going to make it an even $1000. We will also be donated 5% of our total merch sales from this show to HRC.”
