Particle Kid, the alternative rock band fronted by Micah Nelson, has announced a new double-LP, Time Capsule. Set for release on April 22nd via Overseas Artists Records, Particle Kid offered a preview with the lead single “Someone Else’s Dream”. Arriving alongside a music video, “Someone Else’s Dream” features guitarist J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr.), bassist Paul Bushnell (The Commitments), and vocalist Sunny War.
Time Capsule sees Nelson and company drawing a wide range of collaborators, including Micah’s father Willie Nelson who appears on the album-closing “Amerikan Lyfe”. The 26-song tracklist also hosts contributions from Margo Price, Jim James, Sean Lennon, Jeremy Ivey, and more.
“Someone Else’s Dream” serves as a stylistic introduction to Time Capsule. The song hears the country royalty heir embracing his alternative side with a wash of lo-fi, fuzzed-out guitar. Roots still pervade the track by way of harmonica before Mascis pulls the sound back into the gutter with his guitar work. A press release describes the album as “Feelings painted together like a collage, as if 90s alt, 60s psych, 70s electric jazz, and some abstract future were all magazines—chopped up and somehow cohesively glued together by Micah’s voice and lyrics.”
“I remember writing this song in about 5 minutes sitting on a couch one day—one of those rare songs that just happens, and sort of writes itself,” Micah said in a press release. “It started out with a more swingy, folky, acoustic guitar feel, as a little voice memo and then, as a studio recording, it evolved into more of a fuzzed out shoe-gazy thing, or kinda somewhere in between. Paul Bushnell and I did all the basic tracking together at Hen House and then later Sunny War sang beautifully on it.”

Micah first met Mascis while in Amsterdam, performing at the Ziggodome with Neil Young & Promise of the Real.
“We have been occasional pen pals ever since and he was nice enough to play some electric guitar on the track, which was very cool because Dinosaur Jr. is one of my all-time favorite bands, and has influenced many of my sounds, especially on Time Capsule,” Nelson said.
