Back on May 30th, 2020, Paul Hoffman (Greensky Bluegrass) was one of the dozens of artists to participate in Banding Together: A Virtual Concert for Colorado Music Relief Fund. For his part, the jamgrass frontman donned an acoustic guitar—rather than his trusty mandolin—to perform solo renditions of a few Greensky tunes, video of which the band shared on Thursday.

Hoffman’s session was filmed live on May 26th at the famous Caribou Ranch recording studio near Nederland, CO. During its 13 years of operation from 1972–1985, Caribou Ranch was the site of famous recordings by Joe WalshElton JohnChicagoThe Beach Boys, and many more until the facility was destroyed in a fire.

For his 12-minute spot at Banding Together, Hoffman performed a trio of songs he wrote with Greensky Bluegrass. Opening with “In Control”, Hoffman’s powerful vocals are placed at the forefront as he stands alone with his acoustic guitar. Next, the multi-instrumentalist gave audiences some “Courage For The Road” as he bellowed the song’s lyrics across the nearby Rocky Mountains. Finally, his set came to a close with the contemplative—and clearly inaccurate—”Past My Prime”.
