Paul McCartney will head out on a world tour this year and has just announced that his first date will be a return to Boston’s Fenway Park on July 9th. Tickets for the “Out There” Tour’s first date will go on sale Friday, April 5th at 10:00am EST on LiveNation.com or redsox.com. American Express cardmembers can grab tickets on April 2nd at 10:00am. McCartney is returning to the ballpark due to popular demand stemmed from his legendary record selling attendance during his two-night stint at the venue back on August 5th & 6th of 2009.

The former Beatles member will perform music from his entire catalogue, including material done with Wings and The Beatles. As usual, his band will consist of Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens on keyboards, Rusty Anderson on guitar, Abe Laboriel Jr. on the drums and Brian Ray on bass and guitar. McCartney has been keeping busy recently with an appearance as part of the headliner for the 12-12-12 Concert at Madison Square Garden to benefit the victims of Hurricane Sandy, where Dave Grohl, Kurt Novoselic and Paul performed “Cut Me Some Slack”, a song done exclusively for Grohl’s recent Sound City album.

Last year marked 40 years since Paul’s first tour as a solo artist, and he can still wow a crowd for three hours. Paul vows to focus at least some of his venue picks towards places that have historical significance to him. If you can’t catch the Fenway Park show, stay tuned for more tour dates to be announced!
